How To Wrap A Round Gift?

Wondering how to wrap a round gift? Sometimes gift wrapping can be fun but it takes a lot of work when you’re trying to wrap a ball or other circular objects. Let’s face it, it’s easy to get stuck when trying to wrap a round gift. But don’t worry! We’ve consulted experts and done extensive research to help you tackle your next wrapping project with confidence. It’s not as hard as you think! All you need is some patience and the right tools, and we’re here to help.

This article has all the information you’ll need to wrap your future gifts! With just a little bit of direction, you’ll be on your way to stunningly beautiful presents in no time. Here are some tips for making sure your round-shaped gift is wrapped the way it should be:

Decide on a wrapping paper style

You’ve made the decision to gift wrap, and now it’s time to choose a style. You need to consider a few factors before you pick your paper:

  • The recipient’s personality. Do they like things that are simple and elegant, or do they prefer something with more flair?
  • The occasion. If it’s a birthday, do you want festive colors or neutral tones? If it’s an engagement gift, perhaps lots of sparkle is in order? Also consider whether the event is formal or casual—you wouldn’t want to give someone who likes simplicity in their lives an overly ornate, fancy package.
  • Your budget for wrapping materials and supplies (you can get creative if there isn’t much money involved). Keep in mind that this isn’t just about using up every last scrap of gift wrap paper.

Consider how your gift presentation might be appreciated during festive gatherings  and holidays for decades to come!

Pick out your tools before you wrap

Things you’ll need:

  • Wrapping paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Ribbon
  • Bow

How do you a sphere-shaped gift?

Method #1: Wrapping paper strips technique
  • Take your wrapping paper. Fold it over the round gift to ensure that it wraps it up completely from all sides.
  • Cut the section of paper that you’ll be working with.
  • Cut it into strips that can be wrapped around the present. The width of your strips should be about twice as wide as the diameter of your gift.
  • Take your gift and begin wrapping the strips around it one at a time, securing each with tape.
  • After you’ve wrapped it the way you want to, go ahead and tie it with a bow.

Pro tip: It’s important to focus on the design of the wrapping paper here. We don’t recommend using  wrapping paper with a busy pattern because the final result may look messy.

Method #2: Over the top technique
  • To wrap a present, you’ll need a sheet of paper that’s longer than it is wide, but it still needs to be wide enough to cover the entire present.
  • Place the present with the long sides of the wrapping paper facing in front of and behind it, and with the short sides to the left and right of the present.
  • Reach over the gift and bend the long edge of the wrapping paper over the top. Make sure it reaches the gift’s center and let excess paper hang out.
  • While wrapping the ball in the paper, make gentle creases in it as you move around it. Press the top edge of the wrapping paper against the surface of the package using one hand. With your other hand, begin to gather the remaining pieces of paper, carefully folding them onto the top.
  • Using a ribbon, secure the stack of wrapping paper at the top.
Method #3: Folding wrapping paper technique
  • Before cutting your paper, measure it to ensure that it will cover the entirety of the gift.
  • Place your present in the wrapping paper so that its long sides are to the front and back, and its short sides are to the left and right.
  • You should take the longer side that is further away from you and draw it over the top of the present. Repeat this process down the opposite long side. Tape them down so they don’t move around.
  • Pull the paper down at one of the open ends until it’s flat against the present. Then, bring in one corner to form a triangle and fold it in on itself toward the middle. Turn the paper over and repeat the process until just one pointed corner remains exposed.
  • Roll the bottom edge up and secure it with tape. Keep pressing the side flaps in toward the middle. You can then press the bottom flap against the present. Put some tape on it to keep it secured.
  • It should be repeated on the opposite end of the gift. To finish wrapping the item, repeat the procedures of holding the wrapping paper, folding it, and taping it on the other side of the present.

How do you wrap a cylindrical gift?

There are multiple ways to wrap a cylindrical gift like the pleated effect gift wrap, candy-style gift wrap, and tissue paper gift wrap. You can look for various ways to wrap a cylinder through this guide.

Add the finishing touches

Wrapping is only half of the gift-giving process. If you want to make your gifts look more special, here are a few fun finishing touches that can help to make your gift look even more special:

Add some ribbon, stickers, or other decorations to make your gift more eye-catching.

Add a bow. The ultimate finishing touch for your gift is to add a decorative bow. Use a bow to dress up your package, making  it extra special for someone special. For example, if you’ve bought your friend perfume, wrap it up in pretty paper with ribbon around its neck and then attach the bow to that ribbon!

Add a gift tag. Consider attaching an adhesive label on which you’ve written their name or other personal message. You could also write something like “Thank You!” on one side of the cardstock sheet so they’ll be able to see it immediately upon opening their package.

How do you wrap a round gift with ribbon?

First, select your ribbon. If you’re going for something simple, try a single color of twine or satin. If you’re feeling more adventurous, try mixing and matching with different patterns or textures.

Next, drape the ribbon diagonally around the gift so that it falls down one side of the package and then wraps back up on the other side.. Twist the end of the ribbon around itself to secure it in place (or tie it in a bow).

That’s all there is to it! Now you have a beautifully wrapped present, ready for any occasion!

Wrapping gifts in a creative way

Create your own gift tags. Write the name of the recipient on a piece of cardboard and cut it into circles, then glue them onto twine or ribbon and tie at the top of your gift. You could also cut out pictures from books or magazines that would fit around an item (like a cup) and write their name on top with markers in different colors for an extra special touch!

Decorate the paper yourself. If you were unable to buy gift wrap that already had a design on it, use markers or paint to draw your own design, stickers and stamps to create your own pattern or stencils to make straight lines.

Make sure you select quality paper for wrapping. The quality of the wrapping paper you use can have a significant impact on how the person who receives your present perceives it.

You can’t overlook bows. Adding a bow may take something from “this is just alright” to “this is wonderful!” Wrapping paper sometimes features a variety of embellishments; if the paper is sparkly gold, perhaps the bow should be as well. If you want to keep the look neutral, why not use something understated like brown twine?

Add some pompoms and dried flowers on top of the gift. Pompoms are a colorful way to dress up a present and can be bought or made by you. Dried flowers can also be added as a last minute decoration if you don’t have any left hanging around from last year’s bouquet. This is a creative alternative to bows.

Final Thoughts

If you find yourself in a gift-wrapping rut, try these tips to add a little creativity and personality to your gift wrapping. You don’t have to spend hours on it or use expensive materials. Just take some time to think about what would make the person receiving your present feel special and how you can express that through your wrapping technique.

Wrapping a round gift may seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! With these tips and tricks, we hope you are now armed with all the knowledge necessary to wrap a round shaped gift. Once you get the hang of it, it’ll be a breeze to wrap up any present!
